What is our Masters of Science in Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine Program?

Our Masters of Science in Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine Program is one of the most interesting offerings residing here at Lotus Professional College. The development of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine education in Virginia has evolved significantly over the past several decades. In the 1980s, acupuncture was not yet legally recognized for non‑physicians, prompting the formation of the Acupuncture Society of Virginia to lobby for legislative change and establish pathways for professional training in the state.

Across this three‑year progression, students begin by establishing a solid foundation in the fundamentals of substance production and flow, along with learning the structures and functions of the body from both Western and Eastern medical perspectives. As they enter the second year, they broaden their diagnostic skills and deepen their understanding of how the body functions, applying these concepts directly with patients in a supervised student clinic. By the third year, students refine and integrate their knowledge of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and Western diagnostics, strengthening their clinical skills as they treat patients and put their advanced training into practice.

Lotus Professional College is one of few schools in Virginia that offers a Masters of Science in Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine. With studies that cover Chi, Energy-Work, Human Anatomy, and so many more, we dive deep into various different teachings and offerings.

Why is Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine important?

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are growing in popularity because modern research is validating their effectiveness in ways that appeal to both healthcare providers and patients. Clinical studies have shown that acupuncture is helpful for conditions such as chronic pain and stress, and this has encouraged more people to seek treatment based on reliable evidence. Usage in the United States has more than doubled over the past two decades, which reflects a rising public acceptance of these therapies as legitimate options supported by scientific inquiry. Many patients are also choosing these treatments because they are often more affordable than long term pharmaceutical care. This makes acupuncture and herbal medicine an attractive choice for people looking for effective solutions that reduce costs without sacrificing therapeutic benefit.

Lotus Professional College has been a pioneer in reshaping the public view of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from a shaky pseudo-science to a trust practice by professionals. We here at Lotus believe that wellness is one of the most important factors to prioritize in your life; learning and providing Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine takes your wellness journey to the next level.
